Little Widefield Farm Okehampton

Bed & Breakfast and Holiday Cottage

A recently renovated 17th Century Devon Farmhouse near Dartmoor and Okehampton, Little Widefield Farm is the perfect place to come for a break. We are 3.5 miles outside Okehampton, one of the major walking centres in the UK.

For cyclists, we are convenient to the Granite Way, Dartmoor and Millenium cycle routes and the The Two Castles Trail for walkers. For those with equine interests we are right next door to The Grange Equestrian Centre.

Outside, you can enjoy stunning views across the foothills of Dartmoor to Yes Tor, which is the highest Tor, and High Willhays, at 2,040ft.

We are a rural retreat, but also an excellent touring base, being within easy reach of the A30, the main arterial route through Devon to Cornwall.

Devon and Cornwall's North Coast, The Eden Project, Rosemoor Gardens, Castle Drogo, Exeter, Plymouth and many more attractions are within an hour's drive. Closer to home are Lydford Gorge, Okehampton Castle, Finch Foundry and of course, the main attraction - the Moor itself.

There are a range of good local restaurants and traditional pubs serving food; the nearest is 1.5 miles away at Folly Gate.

With a comfortable and friendly atmosphere, Little Widefield Farm is the place to come and escape, wind down, and create some pleasurable memories. Whatever your needs, we will either leave you in peace or be available to help.

The Farmhouse

We have three well appointed bedrooms for Bed & Breakfast all with an ensuite shower room. The dining room/lounge has a wood burning stove with cosy chairs to relax in. Guests also can sit and enjoy the beautiful garden in our large sunny porch.

The Holiday Barn

The Lookout is on the first floor of the Holiday Barn, and can sleep a family of up to four. There are magnificent views from all of the rooms.

Outdoors

There are 6.5 acres in all, with pretty, mature gardens which are perfect for sunbathing, having a picnic, a barbeque, or just exploring. There is a copse, a fruit garden, vegetable garden and 3 separate paddocks, one of which has views of Dartmoor. We have 2 grey geldings, Aladdin and Mickey, a miniature Shetland pony called Marigold, Golden retrievers and a cat. Our hens provide fresh eggs for breakfast which children can collect.

Since moving here we have seen an abundance of beautiful sunsets, and have experienced an atmosphere of peace and relaxation that is often hard to get in some of the busier areas of Devon during the holiday season. There is no light or air pollution and wildlife is all around with buzzards, heron, deer, fox, nesting swallows, owls, bats, butterflies and wild flowers.

The local lanes are quiet for walking, and one can walk for an hour or more without meeting a car or sometimes even another person.

Take a look around our website and start planning your next well deserved break!
